Car Mirror Compasses
With most cars these days, gadgets are installed everywhere. Take a look at the dashboard and you might see a GPS navigation device, a phone, a radar detector and so on. Adding a compass to that might prove too much, so if you want one of these useful little devices, why not buy a mirror that includes a compass as well. Below are two mirrors that you can use, which come with a compass included.
CIPA 36400 – Rearview Mirror With Temperature, Compass and Auto Dimming
The CIPA company is based in the United States of America and it recently launched a line of rear view mirrors, with an auto dimming feature. This feature will detect glare coming from behind or ambient lights, and they will reduce the glare coming from any lights that are too bright. They also come with features like temperature display, a compass, map lights, plus the possibility to customize the mirrors with the features you choose to install.
This mirror is a very good solution for headlight glare which happens during the night, thanks to its auto dimming feature. When it senses glare, it will dim the glass of the mirror, so you’re safe and comfortable. The temperature display will show both Celsius and Fahrenheit temperatures, depending on your preferences. You will need a temperature sensor wire and a power wire to install this mirror.
The kit of the CIPA 36400 mirror comes with these included: operation card, windshield replacement wedge button, wire harness for the temperature sensor, temperature sensor, wire tap, power wire harness and finally, the mirror assembly, which has a compass pod included.
Gentex GENK51a
This rearview mirror from Gentex will remove the glare which vehicles from behind can provoke at night, making it safer for you to drive. The mirror is dimmed automatically when glare is detected. The mirror becomes even darker if the glare is very powerful. It also comes with an indicator for ice, which is displayed for a minute, as soon as the outside temperature reaches 37 degrees F. The ice indicator will allow you to be prepared for any ice that might show up on the road. The external temperature and the compass are two other features that allow you to drive more efficiently and safer. Another feature of the Gentex GENK51a rear view mirror is its HomeLink feature, which allows you to activate a garage door opener, gates, the locks of entry doors, lighting and anything else that is controlled by RF signal. This feature can be programmed to do whatever you need from it.
A test of this mirror showed that it worked just as the ads promised it would. You do need to be a little handy to install one, so if you’re not comfortable with this type of operation, call a professional to do it. Installing it means that you have to get the cables through a firewall (the front bumper is where the temperature probe is installed) and you need to get two sources of 12v (unswitched and switched). If the installation is done by someone that knows what they’re doing (maybe someone that restores cars as a hobby, or a professional mechanic), then it will probably take only a few hours at most, to install this wonderful mirror with its included compass.
